Congratulations to this week’s Doors of the Week!
Boys Varsity Squash: Daniel King ’25 and Ian Henry ’28
Daniel King ’25 and Ian Henry ’28 both picked up their first career wins for Deerfield last Wednesday as they helped the team ride home victorious over Phillips Andover! Go Big Green!
JV Swimming: Melody Zhao ’26
This week, JV Swim would like to nominate Melody Zhao ’26 as our DOTW. Melody leads by example every day on JV Swim. She never misses a practice, interacts with everyone on the team with genuine kindness and care, and gives 110% every time she gets in the pool. She is always eager to improve, seeking regular feedback from coaches and fellow swimmers, and is able and willing to swim in any event. Melody is like an energizer bunny in the pool; she never seems to run out of steam! While she is perhaps our fiercest competitor in the pool, she is one of our gentlest and most approachable team members on the deck. She is patient, giggly, consistent, and hard-working. We are so lucky to have had her for the last two years and are so excited for the next two seasons!
Girls Varsity Hockey: Allie Corrieri ’25
After scoring four goals last week, it is no surprise that our DOTW nomination for GVH goes to Allie Corrieri ’25. The best part to Allie’s game so far is how consistent she has been. She has become a reliable player that the team leans on in tough games to not only perform well, but also support her teammates. During our three games last week, Allie scored four goals: two each against Loomis and BB&N. Allie’s goals have been direct examples of her grit, tenacity, and overall hard work every time that she steps on the ice. Allie’s defensive game has been equally as impressive, with her tight gaps on the defensive blue line and aggressive but smart steps on the offensive blue line. Not only has Allie proved her consistency and her defensive play to be two of her strength’s, but she has also shown so much resilience and dedication to the sport. Her tough mindset allows her to persevere through games where we are down and to battle through injury. All these accomplishments are a reflection of Allie’s nature as a great teammate and captain. She puts the team first in every situation, supports her teammates on the bench, and stays true to our team motto. Thank you for leading the way, Allie!
Girls Varsity Basketball: McKenzie Golterman ’25
This week, Girls Varsity Basketball nominates McKenzie Golterman ’25 for DOTW. McKenzie has been a true captain for the team by showing great leadership and motivation, and by leading the team in drills. McKenzie had a great shooting night for our season opener against St. Paul’s!
Girls JV Basketball: Winnie Underwood ‘28
The first Door of the Week for Girls JV Basketball this season is Winnie Underwood ’28. Despite never playing basketball before, Winnie has quickly become an integral part of our team. She works extremely hard at practice each day, hustling on and off the court. She continues to improve as a player and even started in our Saturday game against Saint Paul’s School. We are so excited to have her on the team and cannot wait to see what the remainder of the season holds for her.
Girls Varsity Swimming & Diving: Alia Marquardt ’27
The Door of the Week for DAGVSD is Alia Marquardt ’27. Alia is an extremely hard worker who pushes herself in every practice, trying new (and faster) intervals with enthusiasm and determination. She has really shown her grit as an athlete in these early weeks and has inspired others to demonstrate the same. Alia has also given her all to her races in our meets thus far, displaying focus, effort, and dedication to the team. She approaches each race with a positive and focused mindset. Ultimately, Alia is worthy of this title for her ability to rise to a challenge and her commitment to pushing herself each day! Keep up the great work, Alia!
Boys JV Hockey: Blake Donnellan ’26
Blake Donnellan is our choice for this week’s Door of the Week. Blake has been a leader for the team in the early part of the season working hard at practice, competing in games and being a positive leader with the new team members! Way to be Blake!!
