Boys Tennis Sweeps Suffield to Close Out Regular Season; Post-Season Bound

The boys’ varsity tennis team wrapped up their regular season on a beautiful Monday evening, earning a clean 6-0 sweep on the road against Suffield Academy. With the win, Deerfield finished regular season play with an impressive 9-3 overall record.

The Doors came out strong in doubles, securing the point with victories on all three courts. This marked the tenth time in twelve matches that DA has clinched the doubles point. The #1 duo of Luka Kokosadze ‘25 and Gunter Weldon ‘27 teamed up for an 8-2 win; while the season-long pairing of Tai Feng ‘26 and Walker Naughton ‘25 at #2, and Anthony Sparacio ‘25 and Tommy McMahon ‘25 at #3, each rolled to decisive 8-1 victories. In exhibition play, Dima Kasumov ‘27 and Spencer Trees ’27 were leading 7-2 when their match was called.

Singles followed a similar format, with Deerfield showing both depth and dominance. Courts #1 (Weldon), #2 (Sparacio), #3 (Feng), and #5 (Kokosadze) each won their first sets without dropping a game, while #6 (Trees) surrendered just one. At #4, Kasumov faced the toughest test of the day, but dug deep to secure a 6-4 opening set and was up 3-1 in the second when the match was called.

With regular season play now complete, the team turns its focus to the postseason tournament beginning this weekend, eager to build on their success. Deerfield will host Brunswick in the quarterfinals at 9:30am on Saturday, May 17. Good luck to the boys’ varsity tennis team!
