Big Green Skiers Wrap Up MISL Season & Finish on the Podium at New England Championship

Deerfield’s ski teams concluded the 2025 Mount Institute Ski League (MISL) season on a high note, competing fiercely in the final GS race held at Berkshire East on Wednesday. The race, a one-run GS format, saw intense competition from a variety of local prep schools, with Deerfield’s varsity teams finishing strong for both the boys’ and girls’ events.

In the girls’s race, Deerfield’s team put up an impressive showing. They secured second  place overall with a total of 221 points, just behind a very strong NMH-A team who claimed first with 238 points. Bement finished third with 181 points, and Deerfield’s B team took fourth with 114 points. In terms of individual performances, Rowan Skinner ‘26 led the charge for her team, securing second place with a time of 57.09 seconds, just behind Elianna Umana Kimura of NMH-A who took the top spot with a time of 56.41. Other notable skiers were Cecelia Cramer ‘26, Anais Vieira ‘26, and Eliza Todd ‘27 who finished fifth (58.70), seventh (59.94), and ninth (60.06), respectively.

The boys’ race was just as competitive with NMH-A coming on top with 314 points. Deerfield secured second place with 256 points. Andrew Lewis ‘25 was the standout, finishing fifth overall with a time of 56.65 seconds. Ted Freedman ‘27 also put up a strong performance for Deerfield, finishing ninth with a time of 57.68 seconds.

The season-long efforts of both Deerfield’s boys and girls teams culminated in remarkable final standings in the league. The girls’ team wrapped up in second place overall with 30 points. This solid finish came just behind a very dominant NMH-A team with 35 points. The Deerfield-B team followed in fourth place with 19 points. The boys’ team also had a strong season, securing third place with 36 points. Again, NMH was the team to beat taking the top two spots with their A and B teams. On an individual level, Deerfield athletes stood out in the final race and throughout the season. Rowan Skinner finished the season in second place with an impressive 252 points, just narrowly missing the top spot of NMH’s Elianna Umana Kimura with 253 points. Her outstanding and consistent performances, including the second place finish in the final race, were crucial to her overall high raking. Other Deerfield athletes who made their mark included Cecelia Cramer who secured fifth place in the final standings with 236 points, Eliza Todd who finished eighth with 216 points, and Haley Hickman ‘26 who finished ninth with 206 points. For the boys, Andrew Lewis was Deerfield’s top performer finishing the season in tenth place with 271 points. A truly impressive feat as he was only one of two competitors to place in the final results who weren’t from NMH. Lewis’ strong showing throughout the season helped solidify Deerfield’s place in the top tier of the league standings.

The 2025 NEPSAC Alpine Skiing Class A Championships, held at Mt. Sunapee, NH, on February 12, showcased top-notch performances from New England’s finest prep school ski teams. The occasion featured both slalom and giant slalom events for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. Deerfield skiers faced fierce competition, but held their own against the challenging opponents.

In the boys’ standings, Cardigan Mountain School emerged as the Class A champions scoring 39. Deerfield’s boys’ team finished in 12th place with a total score of 255. On the girls’ side, NMH claimed the Class A title scoring 35 points after dominant performances in both slalom and GS. Deerfield’s team performed remarkably, securing fifth place with a total score of 82 points. The standout performer for Deerfield was Rowan Skinner who finished sixth overall in the girls’ slalom with a combined time of 70.07 seconds. Skinner also excelled, earning second place in the GS event with a time of 81.07 seconds, exhibiting her versatility and skill across both events! All top-10 finishers are now considered ALL-NEPSAC Class A for Alpine Skiing.

The Deerfield ski teams wrapped up the 2025 season with pride, showcasing both individual excellence and terrific team efforts. With a competitive spirit and remarkable finish, they will look ahead to next year’s season with great anticipation to build on the momentum they generated. We are so proud of our skiers and many thanks to our seniors for their dedication and sportsmanship over the past few years!
