In a Friday afternoon contest on spring Family Weekend, the Big Green emerged victorious over Mt. St. Charles, 4-1, to extend their winning record, 2-1.
Deerfield led wire to wire over visiting Mt. St. Charles. Neither team could get much going at the plate, combining for just 7 hits. SS Caleb Allen was the lone Deerfield batter who had 2 hits, he also walked once and scored a run. CF Mack Mrowka and LF Connor Mudd each had an RBI. The Deerfield pitching continued to be solid with SP Jake Kavanaugh going 4 2/3 innings allowing just 2 hits and struck out 5 batters. RP Caleb Allen and Tim Harrick combined to strike out 6 of the 7 batters they faced.
With the victory, the Big Green improve their season record to 2-1. The squad returns to action this Monday, when they host Cushing Academy. First pitch is slated for 5pm.
