Softball Seals 2019 Season with a Come From Behind Victory

Carly Barbato – May 22, 2019

On senior day, the Deerfield varsity softball team concluded their 2019 season with a come-from-behind victory over visiting Loomis, 12-6.

Loomis jumped to an early 3-1 lead in the first inning, but the Doors held them off and the score remained as it was up until the fifth inning when the Doors’ bats came alive. Players started crushing the ball and beat out some close plays.

Kailen Coelho ’20 had a bases clearing double and DA jumped ahead to a 9-3 lead. Though the Pelicans battled back, DA put more runs on the board and the game ended with 12 runs scored by the Big Green.

The win was highlighted by the collective contributions of each team member which included: timely hits and solid defensive plays. Furthermore, the team celebrated their senior leaders, Mia Burch and Jordan Manning.

Congratulations to the softball team on their 2019 season and we look forward to watching this team grow in 2020!

Go Big Green!
