Boys Varsity Hockey NEPSAC Semifinalists

Carly Barbato – March 6, 2019

Deerfield boys varsity hockey closed out their inaugural season in the new Class of 1993 Rink on a positive note. In their final post-season game of the 2018-19 season, the #1 ranked Big Green hosted #4 Kent in the 2019 NEPSAC Martin/Earl (Large) Tournament semifinals. The Big Green were netting goals and the fans were going wild!

The Big Green ultimately fell to the visiting Lions despite a heroic third period come back that saw the Doors net four goals in less than 13 minutes to open the third period. Kent went on to capture the Large Tournament title in Sunday’s championship game.

The team clinched their berth into the semifinals, by defeating #8 Avon Old Farms 4-1 in the tournament opening quarterfinal game on the Wednesday prior.

This season the Big Green posted a 15-8-4 season record, their best record since their 2007-08 campaign when the team posted 16 regular season wins and finished the season ranked 6th in the West Division final Division I standings.

Go Big Green!
