Football Alumni are Bowl Bound

Three Deerfield football alumni – Dallas Hobbs ’17, Hunter Long ’17 and Peter Fisk ’16 – are headed to the postseason and will be competing in upcoming NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision bowl games.

Dallas Hobbs ’17 – Washington State University

Entering the postseason with a record of 10-2 and finishing the regular season ranked second in the nationally recognized Pac-12 conference, Washington State will play Iowa State in the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 28th in the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. In addition to Washington State, there are six other Pac-12 football teams, Arizona State, California, Stanford, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, who will be competing in the postseason this year.

As a student-athlete on the defensive line, Dallas has played in four games in his redshirt-freshman year for the Cougars. On average this season, the Cougars are conceding 23.1 points per game while scoring 38.3 points on offense.

At Deerfield, Dallas was a three-sport varsity athlete in football, basketball and track & field. For his contributions during the Big Green football season he was named All-Central New England Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-New England honors. Additionally, he captured the New England Championship in the shot put, throwing 58-00 and was the New England runner up in the discus (160-0). Go Cougars! Good luck Dallas!

Hunter Long ’17 – Boston College

In his redshirt-freshman campaign, tight end Hunter Long has played in all 12 of the Boston College football games this season and helped the team post a 7-5 season record on their way to earning their place in the Servpro First Responder Bowl on Wednesday, December 26th at 1:30pm in Dallas, TX at the Cotton Bowl. The Eagles will face No. 25 ranked Boise State in the bowl game.

To date this season, Hunter has accumulated 103 receiving yards and recorded two touchdowns for the Eagles. His longest reception of the year (35 yards) led to his first career touchdown in the Eagles win over Holy Cross, 62-14. Heading into the postseason, Hunter has recorded four receptions and averages 25.8 yards/catch.

During his post-graduate year at Deerfield, Hunter totaled 30 receptions for 508 yards and two touchdowns on offense, garnered several top football recruit rankings and earned All-Central New England Second Team accolades.

Peter Fisk ’16 – Michigan State University

A third year player with the Michigan State football program, sophomore linebacker Peter Fisk and his Spartan teammates were selected to the Redbox Bowl on Monday, December 31st in Santa Clara, CA at Levi’s Stadium. The Spartans will face the high powered offense of Oregon in their bowl game.

The Spartans finished the regular season schedule with a record of 7-5 which included a 5-4 Big Ten record. This year’s team will look to build on last year’s bowl game success by winning their second straight bowl game. This year’s Redbox Bowl will mark the first-ever bowl match-up between the two schools.

At Deerfield, Peter rushed for more than 1,200 yards and recorded 172 tackles for the Big Green in his post-graduate season. Go State! Good luck Peter!
