Thanks you Victoria Patterson, Noelle Abeyta, Erin Hudson, Helen Downes, Sarah Jane O’Connor, Grace Russell, Esme Benjamin, Nora Markey and Carolyn Melvin! Let’s keep up the good work!

Boys Junior A Soccer: Merritt Wurts ‘21
For Boys Junior A Soccer, the athlete of the week is Merritt Wurts ’21. After a midseason shift to center midfielder, Merritt has demonstrated the ability to move the ball well, deftly navigating switches and avoiding defenders. He had several long shots on goal in our loss to an athletic and well-coached Avon team. His speed and effort was evident in the 4–2 win against a skilled Williston squad, and formed a key link in the Deerfield counterattack. He has shown significant growth over the course of the season, and is a crucial contributor to the Jr. A team.

Varsity Field Hockey: Emily Henderson ‘19
Emily Henderson ’19 is the Athlete of the Week for varsity field hockey. Emily’s positive attitude and tremendous work ethic make her a leader on the team. She is incredibly supportive and encouraging of her peers, and always puts the needs of the team before her own. Moreover, Emily has improved tremendously over the course of the season, and has worked particularly hard at fine tuning her hit; she now has one of the best shots on the team! We are incredibly lucky to have Emily as a role model for our younger players and we thank her for all that she has done to make the team dynamic so special this year!

JV Volleyball: Soo Oh ‘20 & Claire Cummings ‘21
The JV Volleyball Athletes of the Week is Soo Oh and Claire Cummings. Soo Oh is a key player on our team. In this week’s game against NMH Soo was a huge reason behind our victory. Her consistency on the court as a Server and Setter are key to the success of the team. Soo also adds a great sense of humor to any situation and brings laughter to the court. Claire Cummings has worked hard this season to learn the skills of Volleyball. In our game against Taft she made several key plays that kept us in the game. She works hard to make things happen on the court and we are grateful for her positive presence. Thank you, Soo and Claire!

Girls Varsity Soccer: Hannah Valencia ‘18

The girls varsity soccer athlete of the week in Hannah Valencia. Although Hannah only entered Deerfield this fall as a PG student, she has made a great impact on the soccer team. She brings a great attitude to practice everyday and is always working hard with a smile on her face. This week, Hannah really stepped up in the backline, going hard into tackles and communicating with her teammates. Thanks for all your hard work this season, Hannah!

Boys Water Polo: Shaun Kronenwetter ‘19
The boys water polo Athlete of the Week is Shaun Kronenwetter. After battling injury and illness for much of the season, Shaun Kronenwetter ‘19 emerged in the last three games as a scoring threat. His outside shooting and speed in the transition opened a number of scoring opportunities for his teammates and for him. Thank for you great work, Shaun!
