Boys Varsity Water Polo Comes from Behind to Defeat Loomis

The boys varsity water polo team showed just how far they have come this season after defeating a Loomis team that had already beaten them by six goals earlier this fall. On September 21st, Loomis came to the Koch Natatorium and defeated the big green 9-3, scoring four goals in the final frame.

Yesterday however, had a much different story line as the Big Green traveled to Loomis and scored two late goals in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat the host pelicans. Senior Jeffrey Sun ’17 was once again the team’s leading scorer after netting a hat trick while sophomore Henry Lowe ’19 earned two of his own. Penner ‘18, Meyer ‘17 and Kronenwetter ‘19 scored a goal apiece to close out the scoring for DA. In goal, sophomore Graham O’Brien ’19 kept the Big Green in the game by making eight saves.

Coach Scandling believes that this was the boys best game of the season and it came at just the right time as the boys are currently fighting for a spot in the New England tournament. Coach explained that DA’s “balanced offense and relentless, switching defense made the difference in a tight game, one in which Deerfield came from behind in the fourth quarter.”

Next up for the Big Green is a game at Andover this Saturday at 2:30 PM, their final road game of the season.

Go Big Green!
