The boys rolled to a convincing 7-0 victory over Bement, but it was not so convincing at the onset. Bement came out swinging! Manager Ted was missed on the sidelines, but the team clearly had things well in hand without him.
Doubles set the stage nicely, with all four pairings coming away with wins. Kyle and Rudy opened things up in what turned out to be the tightest doubles match of the day, edging their opponents 8-6 in a competitive set that could have gone either way for stretches. John and Jasper followed with a solid 8-5 win, another match where Bement made things interesting before DA pulled away. Carter and Max were a bit more comfortable at 8-4, and Leo and Tommy capped the doubles session with a dominant 8-0 shutout.
Singles was where Deerfield really turned up the heat. Captains John and Rudy both played well, with Rudy posting a sharp 8-1 result and John winning 8-3. Kyle matched Rudy’s 8-1 performance, and Jasper was not far behind at 8-2. The standout of the singles session, though, was Tommy, who finished with a perfect 8-0 in the exhibition. Carter and Max each contributed wins at 8-4 and 8-3 respectively, while Leo’s 8-5 result was the closest singles match of the afternoon, a fun, competitive set that gave everyone something to watch. A great team effort all around, and hopefully Ted is back soon to see this group in action.
