Katie Mountz collected three hits in three at bats, as the Big Green defeated Miss Porter’s 14-3 on Saturday. Mountz hit a home run to center field in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.
The Big Green earned the win thank in part to eight runs in the second inning. An error scores one run, Jaden Matteson singled, scoring two runs, Kiely Kinchla singled, scoring two runs, and Mountz homered to center field, scoring three runs.
A sacrifice fly by Lauren Mrowka put the Big Green on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Big Green scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mrowka singled, scoring one run, a passed ball scored one run, Mountz doubled, scoring one run, Jian Yeo singled, scoring one run, and Maggie Garbarino singled, scoring one run.
Nicole Lefavour earned the win for Deerfield. The right-handed pitcher gave up eight hits and three runs over the five inning, striking out three and walking none.
The Big Green piled up 12 hits in the game. Garbarino and Mrowka each collected multiple hit for the Big Green. Kinchla stole two bases and collectively the Big Green stole five bases in the game.
