It was a fantastic day on the courts for the tennis team as they secured a solid 5-2 victory over Taft. It was great to see Leo and Max at the #3 doubles starting up with a gritty 8-7, (10-8) win in the tiebreaker. Although the pairs of Ted and Rudy, and Jasper and John, faced difficult losses in their matches (5-8), they fought valiantly against some tough Taft opponents. Meanwhile, Tommy and Carter at #4 doubles playing in the exhibition doubles match fought to win a tiebreaker 10-4.
With Taft securing the doubles point, they had the momentum going into the singles portion of the day. But the scales were quickly rebalanced by varsity player Ted F. anchoring the top of the ladder, where he delivered a dominant 8-3 performance to start the singles matches. The rest of the team showed incredible mental toughness throughout the day, particularly during the high-pressure moments. John (#3), Rudy (#4), and Max (#6) all demonstrated amazing resilience in their singles matches, coming through with hard-fought, narrow victories by winning their respective super tiebreakers. Jasper, Tommy and Carter also put in strong performances, securing comfortable wins for the squad. While Leo faced tough competition at the #2 spot with a 3-8 loss, the Deerfield squad’s depth came through to clinch the overall win. Congratulations to the boys on a well-earned victory and winning five super-tiebreakers.
