The team delivered a strong performance against Suffield on a cloudy day with a hint of cold breeze—so they elected to play indoors. Despite missing two key players in Kyle at #4 and Captain John at #3, the Big Green showed impressive depth to secure a convincing 6-1 victory. Following the standard format, the squad swept the doubles round and took five out of six singles matches.
The afternoon began with a strong showing in doubles, as Deerfield completed a clean sweep of all three positions. Rudy and Jasper at #1 proved to be a formidable duo, winning handily with a score of 8-2, while Carter and Max were nearly untouchable in their 8-1 victory at #2. The closest doubles match of the day came from Leo and Tommy, who battled through a back-and-forth contest and stayed composed under pressure to pull out an 8-6 win at the third position.
Deerfield carried that momentum into the singles matches. Rudy and Jasper once again handled their matches with poise, each finishing with identical 8-4 scores. Max and Carter were particularly efficient on the court, with Max cruising to an 8-3 win and Carter securing a solid 8-5 victory. While Leo fought through a tough battle at the top spot, ultimately falling 4-8, Tommy showed great grit in a tightly contested 8-6 win. Perhaps the highlight of the singles session was team manager Ted Huang stepping onto the court for an exhibition match. Ted rose to the occasion beautifully, grinding out an 8-6 win to mark a memorable first career victory.
