On another beautiful fall day in the Pioneer Valley, the Big Green hosted class A foe Westminster School in their third consecutive home game. Both teams exchanged possession to open the game. At the 15 minute mark, Westminster inked the score sheet scoring the first goal of the game on a through ball connection executed between their midfielder and forward. The Big Green responded before the half when approaching 10 minutes left to play in the first half, Hazel Patton ’26 made a throw in to Bridie Weller ’29 who received the ball and played it to Blair Murry ’26 on the top of the box. Blair created a shoot lane for herself and shot the ball into the back of the net to level the score 1-1. At the beginning of the second half the Martlets earned a corner kick which bounced in the box and was eventually put into the back of the net to give them a one-goal advantage. The Big Green continued to press until the final minutes of play. Despite their efforts, the score remained in favor of Westminster at the final whistle. A shout to the Doors for their hard work and resilience that they displayed in this physical and high paced match up with new players stepping into new positions – a true testament to the team first mentality! The Big Green will look to bounce back quickly when they hit the road for the first time this season on Saturday against Kimball Union. Kick-off is set for 4pm in Meriden, NH. Go Big Green!
