Soccer (Girls): Varsity vs. Taft School (09/24/25 3:30 PM)

Event Details

In their first rainy game of the season, the Big Green took some time to adjust to the conditions and visiting Taft took advantage, notching two goals before halftime. At the half, the Big Green regrouped and recommitted to executing their game plan. From the opening whistle in the second half, all of the Big Green players showed great energy, focus and determination. The Doors cut the lead in half only eight minutes into the second half when Minjoo Serhant ’26 won a ball in the midfield that she played across the field to fellow midfielder Meryl Gilbert ’27 who fed the ball to Sally Dance ’29 who then fed the final pass to Blair Murray ’27 who rocketed a shot to the near post upper 90. Then, ten minutes later after a great defensive effort on the right side of the field by Eva Bramwell ’26 and Hazel Patton ’26, again Minjoo collected the ball in the midfield and played the ball forward to Meryl who then fed Maggie Garbarino ’27 on the left flank who went 1v1 with the goalkeeper to notch the equalizing goal. The crowd went wild! Despite the momentum shift in the Big Green’s favor, Taft responded quickly and scored two additional goals to regain the lead and earn the win. The Big Green will look to rebound this Saturday at Pomfret. Kick-off is set for 2pm.
