The Big Green held their 2025 season opener on Wednesday on Jamie Kapteyn field on a beautiful fall day with many fans cheering them on around the field. In the early minutes of the game, both teams were trying to establish their rhythm and settle opening game nerves. Brooks opened the scoring when they struck first when they converted on a turnover. The Big Green countered and leveled the score 1-1 when Eva Bramwell ’26 rocketed a shot in the upper 90 off a cross from Maggie Garbarino ’27. Brooks quickly answered and scored on the ensuing kick-off to regain the lead. Determined to get the equalizer, the Big Green continued to press forward creating several dangerous scoring opportunities (including some cross bars and posts!) from great combinations between the midfield and forward lines. In the second half, the Big Green controlled the possession of play and showed their resilience as they continued to put the Brooks backline and goalkeeper under pressure. In the later part of the second half, Minjoo Serhant ’27 broke through on the dribble from the midfield and took the ball to goal rocketing a shot to the back post and securing the equalizing for the Big Green (and the crowd went wild!)! At the final whistle the score remained level at 2-2. Many players stepped onto the field in this game and each helped contribute to the positive result and point earned!
The Big Green will look to continue to build on their opening performance this Saturday when they host class A opponent Milton Academy. Kick-off is slated for 4pm.
