On a nice afternoon in Avon, CT, Deerfield encountered a good, speedy and strong team. The Winged Beavers played the right mix of long passes and short, and also were patient in their build-up when they had the ball. On Deerfield’s side, goalkeeping was superb. Owen Babb ’26 collected many high balls from corner kicks and serves during the run of play, making difficult saves seem easy. Players that made an impact included Jackson Glazier ’28, who was strong as a center back, and Cooper Johnson ’26, who stood at Jackson’s side to work with him to defend any play that came through the middle. Alexander Salvo ’26 and Daniel Widmer ’27 played together well and sent some through balls to allow Owen Tymchuk ’26, Justin Scalzo ’27, and Felix Alfaro ’27 to get a chance to shoot on the AOF goal. Both halves were competitive, and the penalty in the 13th minute of the first half was the goal that decided the match.
Deerfield travels to Berkshire School on Saturday, September 13.
