Soccer (Boys): Junior Varsity vs. Taft School (09/24/25 3:30 PM)

Event Details

We beat a very good Taft squad in the rain today. The competition for every ball was fierce and Taft played with a lot of heart. Our field was slippery and fast and both teams struggled to possess. In the first half, we sustained good pressure until Taft took control. Neither team could finish their infrequent chances and we went into the half 0-0. The rain began falling harder during halftime and we had to rally our energy to keep pushing. The game was very balanced. Taft was able to threaten along the left flank, but Jack Zhunio (27) and Michael Hioe (27) rebuffed every attack. Our pressure came up the middle and several times, striker Rabi Diallo (29) was able to turn and face the goal. Finally, after several fouls in the box, Rabi earned a PK which he buried with confidence. A few minutes later, a sloppy free kick from Taft’s back line found its way to winger Nat Niedzwieki (29), who slotted a perfect through ball to Rabi Diallo (29) who finished near post. Taft pushed in the final 10 minutes and headed in an excellent corner kick to make it 2-1. The DA boys held tough thereafter and frustrated Taft’s attempt to pass and find space to shoot. Keeper Zach England (29) played his best game of the season, securing several elevated balls and playing confidently with his feet. Overall, this was another outstanding team effort, with every player contributing positive minutes. Coach Jarcho and I remain very proud of this team’s upbeat energy, togetheness, fierce competitiveness, and sportsmanship.
