Soccer (Boys): Junior Varsity vs. Berkshire School (09/13/25 3:30 PM)

Event Details

After at least six years, the boys’ JV finally defeated Berkshire on a warm and cloudy day at their field. We nearly gave one up early after a flubbed backpass to our keeper Zach England ’29, who recovered magnificently and completed his second clean sheet in as many games. We were directing play throughout the first half, giving up only through-ball chances with possession heavily in our favor. Late in the half, we dispossessed near midfield and connected a nice sequence of touch passes, the last of which sent through to John Rousou ’28, who toughed to his left and finished a poised left-footed shot to the low right panel. 1-0 DA at the half. More of the same in the second half with DA taking more and more control of possession, fighting harder for loose balls, and tracking back to defend. Midway through, centerback Nick Smiarowski ’26 sent the ball forward to left winger Nat Niedzweiki ’29, who lofted a cross to the far right winger Rabi Diallo ’29, who fired a strong shot which deflected off the keeper to the feet of Henry Markcrow ’28, who finished tidily. The team defense was unbreakable; all over the field, we pressured every ball and took no chances, stymying everything Berkshire could muster. Really strong team play from whistle to whistle in just our second game. We coaches were delighted that both teams played with respect toward each other and the refs. Let’s stay healthy and keep this momentum rolling!
