Soccer (Boys): Junior B vs. Eaglebrook School (09/24/25 3:30 PM)

Event Details

On Wednesday, September 24th, the boys junior B footballers hit the road for the first time and headed up the hill to face the Eaglebrook School JV1 team. Unlike the previous game, the full roster was available for this game, on a wet, rainy afternoon. Despite trailing for the majority of the game, EBS scored a fluky late goal to earn a 1-1 draw. With the result, Deerfield’s record this season falls to 2W-1D-0L.

The wet conditions sped the game up and Deerfield created plenty of chances in the 1st half, but were unable to break through until the 14th minute. Alastair Ylvisaker ’28 set up Jack Keller ’26 with a nice pass and Keller converted the opportunity to put Deerfield up 1-0. The score would remain the unchanged for the next 20 minutes until half-time. The 2nd half featured more of the same, with Deerfield largely controlling the run of play and peppering the EBS goal with shots, without being able to net an insurance goal. Keeper Desmond Drake ’29 saved the few chances that EBS had and sweeper Ryan Stenzler ’27 was effective in clearing the ball when it was in Deerfield’s end. In the 65th minute, EBS finally broke through when a shot appeared to deflect off one of their players, hit the underside of the crossbar, and go into the net. Deerfield pressed forward for the last 5 minutes of the game and created a few more chances, but were unable to find the winner. Quad Squad will be back in action on Saturday, September 27th with a 2:30 pm match on the road against Suffield Academy.
