Deerfield held on for a 23-20 opening week victory on the road against Loomis Chaffee. DL Kobe Mwah made the game clinching tackle on 4th down with under 2 minutes left to go in the game on an inside run play. Deerfield had several 4th down stops throughout the game and held Loomis to just 3 points in the 2nd half. Three different Deerfield players recorded touchdowns. WR Will Machnik scored the 1st touchdown of the season, WR Andrew Rivera caught a 2nd quarter touchdown pass, and QB Michael McColgan ran one in on the 1 yard line to give Deerfield the lead in the 4th quarter. K Leo Zhao added a FG and 2 extra points. On defense, OLB Andrew Rivera had a 1st quarter interception and CB Jon Sainma had 3 PBUs. It was Deerfield’s first road win since their 2023 Danny Smith Bowl win against Belmont Hill.
