At the Brush Invitational, the Deerfield harriers overcame both the humid, warm day and their friendly competitors from Northfield Mount Hermon, Williston, Bement, Cushing, and Worcester Academy. The day was a resounding success across the entire team as individuals worked hard to raise up the whole squad. In the 5k, Henry Winn ’27, in his first ever race for the Green and White, posted a terrific opening effort to win the race. Liam Walker ’27 was close behind in third, with JT Gally ’26, Quinn Clark ’28, Oliver Peruzzi ’26, and Reid McCoy ‘26 rounding out the field. In the 3k, the courageous crew of Hayston Hays ’29, Grey Altemeyer ’27, Will Golding ’29, Thijs Wittink ’27, and Rory Hartblay ’26, were the first 5 runners across the 3k finish line, thus securing a perfect score against their rivals. Those runners also posted 5 of the top 10 all-time 3k results from my time coaching the team. It was a very good day to be a Door.
