Boys varsity tennis closed out their season with a 6-0 win at Suffield Academy on a beautiful Monday evening. With regular season matches now complete, DA ended with a 9-3 record overall.
Deerfield clinched the doubles point with wins on all three courts. Out of the twelve dual matches played this season, DA has clinched the doubles point ten times, which is a very satisfying statistic. Kokosadze teamed up with Weldon at #1 for this match, with the #2 and #3 pairs staying as they have all season. #4 Kasumov/Trees were up 7-2 when they had to stop play as the doubles point was clinched.
The Doors continued their solid play in singles as courts #1, 2, 3, and 5 never dropped a game in their first sets. #6 Spencer Trees lost just one game en route to his first set victory, while #4 Dima Kasumov had to fight for his 6-4 win. Staying focused in their second sets, #1, 2, 3, and 6 each won theirs 6-1; #5 Kokosadze closed his out 6-3 while Kasumov’s match was stopped at 3-1.
With regular season play completed, all eyes are on the postseason tournament this upcoming weekend.
