Deerfield took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first and held on to that lead until rain and lightning forced a 45-minute delay in the middle of the 5th inning. Deerfield picked up a second run late in the game. Bases were loaded with two outs and an extremely high fly ball was hit in the infield just as the skies opened and heavy rain fell. The ball dropped and a run scored. Both teams hit well and played good defense. The final out of the game came on a pickoff at second base.
