We headed out just after lunch on windy Wednesday to Williston. While Williston’s Varsity played another team, we warmed up for a spirited game against the school’s J.V. squad. We started strong, with Captain Elena Tskhvitaria ‘25’s great block in Williston’s end zone and three nice goals with assists and receptions by Josh Freedman ’26, Thomas Unkles ’25, Brandon Smith ’26 and Jeanlukas Meza ’26. The last of these three goals was especially satisfying because it resulted from a great series of highly accurate passes in a wide field. Minutes into the game, then, the score stood at 3-0 us. Luck turned against us for the next six goals. But [student body] President Billy Tang ’25 boosted morale with a nice assist to Esther Lee ’25 for a fourth goal. The team earned four more goals with assists and receptions from Hazel Secker ’26, Josh, David Peirce ’25, and Thomas.
Shoutouts go to Elena for her great block in Williston’s end zone, Josh’s multiple aggressive tips and slap downs on D, Brandon’s defense, and the really fast point #7 by Josh and Thomas. It was a good day, all told!
