Deerfield’s varsity tennis ladies traveled south to take on Suffield on Wednesday. While the courts were dry, the weather conditions were far from ideal. Extreme wind turned much of the match into a circus, with the ball shooting sideways and generally refusing to cooperate for anyone involved.
The 10-player format got everyone in on the action, and the Doors found themselves trailing in four of the seven matches early. The girls in green needed a few games to sort out how to handle the wind before settling in. Ultimately, everyone turned things around, and the team notched a decisive 7–0 win.
The squad is back on the road this Saturday for a 3 p.m. date with Phillips Exeter.
