Boys varsity tennis defeated Kingswood Oxford 7-0 at home. It is the third straight dual match victory for the Doors, and the first time in many years the team has had an undefeated start to their season.
#2 doubles team Tai Feng/Walker Naughton and #3 Anthony Sparacio/Tommy McMahon made quick work of their opponents with 8-0 and 8-2 victories respectively, clinching the doubles point for DA. #1 Ethan Li/Gunter Weldon were forced to stop their match leading 7-2 to head into singles play.
Never one to stop fighting, KO came out strong in singles and the first few games were tight on most courts. Deerfield settled in quickly though, and all six players soon captured their first sets. #1 Gunter Weldon and #5 Walker Naughton had to dig in and fight for their second set victories, while all other courts continued their dominant play without dropping more than 2 games to close out their matches.
Next up, the team will travel to Taft on Saturday, April 12 at 2pm.
