We had a wonderful opportunity to play Eaglebrook for a second time this season on the Friday of Spring Family Weekend.  The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but the inclement (read: snow) weather forecasted for that day prompted thoughtful athletic directors to move the game up by one day.  The schedule change also ensured that we had plenty of parents, guardians, and other family-friendly fans to cheer us on and throw a ball for my dog during the game (Thank you!).  Josh Freedman ’26 and Captain Elena Tskhvitaria ’25 tried setting a tone with and early D.A. goal, but Eaglebrook was no pushover.  Those players responded with a goal in kind, and it looked for a moment that the two teams would simply take turns.  The score was 1-1, then 2-1 (a Josh-Thomas Unkles ’25 goal), then 2-2. You get it. But then Eaglebrook pulled out ahead, and their three consecutive goals set the score at 2-4.  Yikes!  D.A. needed to step up.  And step up our players did, with a nice goal by Hazel Secker and Jeanlukas Menza, both class of ’26, a Callahan by Esther Lee ’25 (our second Callahan this season!!), and four more 1st ½ goals that featured Hazel, Esther, Thomas and Elena.  The halftime score was in D.A.’s favor: 8-4.

But don’t mistakenly think that Eaglebrook gave up.  Their players were determined to give us a good game.  They scored twice just after the start of the first half, then we traded points for a while before we finished up strong with an overall 11-7 score.  2nd ½ assists and goals featured Thomas, Baokun Chen ’25, Elena, and Josh.

Shoutouts (in addition to the ones implied, above) go to Jean for his mark and his good knock-down blocks, Thomas for a great centerfield catch, a pretty set of passes that led to our 3rd goal (Thomasà Joshà HazelàJean), great handler movements by new players Esther and Julia Horobets ’26, and Zohan Subhash ’26 for an epic dive that we wish we’d caught on film.  A big, big thank you to our fans (especially to the one who promised brownies sometime down the line)!
