Friday was our windiest game day yet, with gusts over 20 miles per hour and a brisk base breeze that made it difficult to complete many passes in a row. We played Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion School for the first time ever (as far as I know), and we appreciated the team’s spirit and good will. We also appreciated the strong number of fans on both sides.
Originally, we had thought we might have a play day and mix teams or do small-team scrimmages, but captains and coaches ultimately decided to play a regular game. D.A. opened with Josh Freedman ‘26’s nice pass to Captain Elena Tskhvitaria ’25 for the first point, but PVCIS turned the tables and scored seven consecutive points. This is not to say that D.A. gave up. Josh and Julia Horobets ’26 made good blocks in the endzone, Josh threw a pretty pass to Elena in center field, and Zohan Subhash ’26 had really good marks.
A player from the class of 2026 who shall not be named supplied of the most entertaining moments of the game. Here is his narrative: “So here’s what happened. I wanted to pull, as Josh wasn’t in the game. I also wanted to hammer because I thought my hammers were pretty good. Long story short, [the disk] slipped out of my hands. The end.
But, of course, it wasn’t the end. We came in with three more goals, all assisted by Josh and received by Hazel Secker ’26, Billy Tang ’25 and Captain Elena. Julia, additionally, had a great block in the endzone, and the team as a whole was relatively happy with its Wind Jackpot Strategy. Thanks once again to all of our supportive fans—we love you all!
