DAJVST had the pleasure of honoring our five seniors at our final home meet of the season today. Seniors Adeeva Alli, Vivian Gonzalez, Edie Huffard, Ellie Nam, and Jazmine Wilson-Bigornia have been steadfast, thoughtful, hard-working, and enthusiastic leaders for us this season; we were thrilled that their efforts this afternoon – in tandem with the efforts of the rest of the JV squad – earned us a solid victory over the NMH Hoggers! Four-year JV swimmers Jazmine and Ellie had excellent side by side swims in the 50-yard butterfly, placing first and second respectively. They also swam together in the 500-yard freestyle, where they both earned their season personal bests. New to swimming this season, but still a role-model in positivity and mental toughness, Adeeva swam her first 100-yard freestyle! Vivian had a full line-up, swimming four freestyle events on the day and wearing a smile on her face the whole way through. Edie had a killer100-yard backstroke race, placing third and swimming a solid three seconds faster than her previous fastest time. Without many home meets on our schedule this winter, we haven’t had many opportunities to cheer on the JV divers, so it was a real treat to watch Joshua Graham and Casey Lee show off their diving skills this afternoon! Also of note: Julie Yan, Clark Hess, Kenan Ozada, Yong Ding, and Josh Cole all took home first place in an event or two this afternoon. We’re excited to race for the last time this season at our championship meet at Eaglebrook this Saturday. We hope to see you all there!
