Deerfield vs. Suffield Academy – Round 2!
The Deerfield team took to the courts against Suffield Academy and came away with a hard-fought 6-3 victory! With the even-numbered players stepping onto the court first, Deerfield set the tone early and never looked back.
Some highlights: Will and Francesco dominated their matches, showing poise and precision. Will played a relentless game, taking it 11-6, 11-2, 11-5. While John had a competitive match lasting four games. He ultimately came out on top 11-6, 6-11, 11-6, 11-4. Meanwhile, Francesco was as smooth as ever, closing it out in straight games, 11-9, 11-3, 11-5.
Not every battle went Deerfield’s way, though. Aaron and Jasper fought epic five-game thrillers, leaving everything on the court. Aaron, at the number 1 spot, clawed his way back after dropping the first game but ultimately fell in a heartbreaker 5-11, 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 9-11. Jasper’s match had more twists and turns than a mystery novel, with a dramatic third and fourth game slipping out of reach before he bowed out in the fifth 11-7, 9-11, 3-11, 11-5, 3-11.
In the end, Deerfield sealed a solid win, but this was a fun day of competitive squash across the board! Well played, to everyone on both sides!
