Squash Thirds Face Off in a Thrilling Tri-Match Against Andover and Choate
This past weekend, the Deerfield Thirds Squash team took to the courts for a high-energy double-header, first squaring off against Andover before finishing the day with a clash against Choate. The day was filled with intense rallies, dramatic comebacks, and plenty of sweat—all the hallmarks of a great squash showdown.

Match 1: DA vs. Andover (Final Score: DA 5 – Andover 2)
Deerfield came out swinging against Andover, taking control of the match from the start. Aaron set the tone at the #2 spot, delivering a rock-solid performance with an efficient 3-0 victory (11-6, 11-5, 11-8). Jonathan followed at #3 with another commanding win, recovering from a first-game hiccup to close out his match 3-1 (8-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8).
Jasper, playing at #5, wasted no time, dispatching his opponent in straight games (11-8, 11-6, 11-6) and giving DA another crucial point. Meanwhile, Tim, holding down the #7 spot, found himself in a marathon match. Trading blows in an intense five-game battle, he kept his composure in the clutch moments, taking the final game 11-7 to secure another win for DA.
Carter, playing at #1, found himself locked in a grueling contest. After dropping a tough fourth game, he dug deep in the fifth and edged out his opponent in a thriller (11-6, 14-12, 6-11, 8-11, 13-11), sealing the deal on Deerfield’s team victory. Despite the dominant team win, Andover took two matches, with John (#4) and Will (#6) both falling in hard-fought battles.

Match 2: DA vs. Choate (Final Score: Choate 5 – DA 3)
With one win already in the books, DA entered the second match against Choate, hoping to make it a clean sweep. Unfortunately, Choate proved to be an obstacle, and despite several close calls, DA fell just short in a 5-3 loss.
Carter continued his dominant play, taking down his opponent in four games to remain undefeated on the day. Aaron once again looked rock-solid, sweeping his match 3-0 and proving that consistency is key. But the highlight of the match had to be Jonathan’s showdown—a back-and-forth slugfest that went the full distance. After a rollercoaster of momentum shifts, Jonathan sealed the deal with an electrifying 15-13 fifth-game win, giving DA its third victory of the match.
Unfortunately, the rest of the lineup ran into trouble against a tough Choate squad. Jasper and John both found themselves on the losing end of tight battles, while Tim and Max couldn’t quite turn the tide in their matches. Though Deerfield couldn’t pull off the sweep, they left it all on the court and proved they could go toe-to-toe with the best.

Final Thoughts:
Splitting the day 1-1, Deerfield walked away from the tri-match with plenty to be proud of. They showcased resilience, adaptability, and no shortage of grit, making for a thrilling day of competition. With one dominant win and a handful of close calls, this double-header was a fitting way to close out the season—one full of hard-fought battles, well-earned victories, and lessons to carry into the future. Congratulations to this team on a great season!
