Deerfield faced Choate on Choate Day with steady effort and teamwork despite missing middle hitter Jessica Wu ’27, who was injured at practice the day before.
The team took some time to adjust to the new rotation and lineup, which showed in the first two sets (15–25, 11–25). Regardless, Lily Johnson ’28 and Madison Stott ’28 led the offense with consistent serving and hitting, while Audrey Tjoeng ’29 anchored the defense with key digs.
Deerfield settled in during the third set, earning a 25–20 win. Blake Coleman ’27 and Madison Stott ’28 recorded multiple kills, Libby Andrews ’29 added blocks at the net, and Willow Tugume ’28 and Selin Aksoy ’27 contributed from the service line.
The fourth set remained close, with Willow Tugume ’28, Madison Stott ’28, and Blake Coleman ’27 recording kills, and Libby Andrews ’29 and Audrey Tjoeng ’29 strong on defense. Deerfield fell 21–25 to close the match.
The team supported one another throughout this match and, in spite of being challenged, ended their season playing well and having fun.
