We beat Suffield at home 7-1 on the Varsity field. We played very good possession soccer and moved the ball swiftly into the front third. We started all seven seniors in their final week of DA soccer and they got us on the board 1-0 in the first ten minutes. Tai Feng (26) drove the post and crossed in front where Victor Kibuuka (26) was crashing far post and finished in close range. Soon after, Victor Kibuuka (26) sent a cut back cross through penalty spot where Bryan Gianvecchio (26), instead of taking the shot, heel-touched it onto left winger Tai Feng (26) who finished definitively past the near post. John Rousou (28) put us up 3-0 with a strong lefty from the top of the box where the ball found him after bouncing around a bit. Rabi Diallo (29) got the next one, on a broken play where he scooped up a loose ball, cut back to his left, and finished. We gave up a pen, which Suffield finished to make it 4-1 at the half. We came out strong in the second half. Victor Kibuuka (26) finished one of our prettiest sequences of the season. Jack Wagner (26) tackled in the back and released to Jack Webb (27) in the midfield. Webb, who had been delivering surgical advancing passes time and time again today, offered Tai Feng (26) a run up the left wing which he sent strongly across with his left foot. Victor tracked it, elevated, and finished it with a potent header. Soon after, Webb (27) tracked back, tackled, and sent Henry Markcrow (28) up the left wing. Henry deked his way toward the box and laid a gentle pass back to Webb (27) who one-timed a zinger past the keeper at the near post. Bryan Gianvecchio (26) scored our 7th goal after gathering a misplayed goal kick, dodged defenders, and finished with his left. Today was a strong team effort and the boys were rewarded. A great win for a team hungry for one. On to Choate Day!
