Cross Country (Boys): Varsity vs. Interschol (11/08/25 12:00 PM)

Event Details

The Deerfield harriers headed south to Taft to take on the NEPSTA championship. After a week of cold and blustery weather and an overnight rain, the day turned out to be a beautiful: high-50s and sunny with hardly a puff of wind. The race course itself, however, was a brutal combination of a fast opening mile with multiple hilly loops in the second half of the race. The runners in Green and White didn’t blink, though, and both squads managed to match last year’s finishing positions exactly, as the varsity snagged the final, fourth podium spot and the JV surged into second. There were many outstanding performances on the day, but perhaps the biggest highlight was Thijs Wittink ’27, who seized the individual title in the last race of the day. The Doors will close out the season with an optional mile time trial and a banquet. Then, they’ll have a long window to prepare for the season-opening Brush Invitational 2026.
