Deerfield faced St. Paul’s School in a competitive five-set match, ultimately falling 2–3 in a game marked by endurance and close play. Deerfield took the first two sets, 25–24 and 25–17, with strong serving from Blake Coleman ’27, Willow Tugume ’28, Ella Ylvisaker ’29, and Selin Aksoy ’27. Offensive leaders included Jessica Wu ’27, Madison Stott ’28, and Audrey Tjoeng ’29. Key defensive plays came from Karen Park ’26, Willow, and Madison.
In the third set, St. Paul’s regained control and won 25–21. Selin Aksoy ’27 contributed two aces, while Clara Lipman ’27, Jessica Wu ’27, and Libby Andrews ’29 added kills. Libby also recorded a block, with Lily Johnson ’28 and Helen Yang ’28 helping on defense.
The fourth set was another close battle. Madison Stott ’28 delivered a standout performance with three aces and four kills, leading the team in both serving and attacking for the set. Despite the team’s strong effort, Deerfield fell short 22–25, forcing a fifth and final set.
The final set remained tight, but missed serves proved costly for Deerfield. Kills by Madison, Libby, Blake, Selin, Jessica, and Willow kept the match within reach, but St. Paul’s edged ahead to win 18–16.
While the match ended in a loss, Deerfield showed strong team effort and consistent play from all players.
