Deerfield Academy and Worcester Academy played a compelling match on the baseball/south turf today. Deerfield has recently been getting back some players after time away because of injury. Remi Zeitlin, an outside back, played his first minutes of the season, and Jadin Smith, a captain, played his first minutes as an outside back. Both players made a profound difference in the match. At halftime, the score was 0-0. In both the first and second half, Cole Barrett tried to lift a ball over the goalie when the goalie was out of the penalty area, and his efforts were finally rewarded in the 65th minute when Cole knocked a ball from 45 yards away that went into the goal. Cole scored a second goal 15 minutes later with a clever series of moves in the penalty area. Finally, the third goal was score by Alexander Salvo, who calmly placed a shot – while in the penalty area – low and to the left side of the goalie… Daniel Widmer, as usual, brought the level of play up for both teams.
