Soccer (Boys): Junior A vs. Westminster School (10/15/25 3:30 PM)

Event Details

Reaching the midpoint of its schedule, Deerfield kept the momentum going on Wednesday afternoon with a commanding win against Westminster to remain undefeated at home. While what would have been the season’s indisputable highlight—a jaw-dropping bicycle kick goal by standout midfielder PJ Pirsch ’28—was negated by a contested offside call, the real story emerging from this match was the team’s growing chemistry and tactical execution. That cohesion was evident in the tenth minute when fullback Justin Trayz ’29 carried the ball up the right flank before switching the point of attack with a deft cross to the far post. With the Westminster defense and keeper caught too high up the pitch, forward Howard Jin ’27 was there to put Deerfield on the board. Pirsch, who orchestrated play throughout the match, delivered a pinpoint service to striker Cole Higgins ’26, who finished emphatically for the first of his four goals on the day—bringing his season tally to an impressive 16. Perhaps the most satisfying goal came at the 37-minute mark, showcasing the fruits of the team’s training ground work. Winger Ari Baharani ’29 carried the ball deep into the attacking third before delivering a dangerous cross, and Jin—timing his run perfectly—was in position to convert. In the defensive third, captains Rich Zhou ’26 and Magnus Selvig ’26 were commanding at center back in front of keeper Leos Jollon ’29, who was rarely tested but managed his assignment with composure. The Big Green will look to continue their strong form on Saturday when they welcome family and friends to the Lower Fields for their traditional Fall Family Weekend match against Eaglebrook.
