The Deerfield varsity field hockey team capped off Fall Family Weekend celebrations with a decisive win over Taft on Saturday, October 18. Scoring one goal in each quarter of play, the Doors held possession in their attacking zone for the majority of the contest. The senior forward duo of captain Peyton Wierl ’26 and assistant captain Chloe Cleaves ’26 fueled the Doors’ dominant offense. For the second consecutive game, Wierl scored a hat trick and assisted on Cleaves’ goal, while Cleaves assisted on each of Wierl’s goals. Second assists came from Vivian Monopoli ’26 and Alessandra Picard ’29. Varsity newcomers Picard and Sayer McIntosh ’29 helped maintain Deerfield’s consistent offensive pressure. Standout defensive play came from assistant captain Ilsa Borgen ’26, Lalwani Surpitski ’26, and Erin Dunne ’28. The midfield unit of Monopoli, Eloise Hochberg ’27, Reagan Deery ’28, and Taylor Wilburn ’27 kept the pressure on the Rhinos throughout the contest. The Doors will face fellow undefeated Class A opponent, Andover, on Saturday, October 25.
