Deerfield varsity field hockey continued their success on the road at St. Paul’s School on Saturday, October 4. Despite relentless defensive pressure from the Pelicans, the Doors fought to maintain possession and keep the ball in their offensive zone. After a scoreless first quarter, Lilly Oliver ’26 put the Doors on the board early in the second quarter. Oliver stole the ball and dribbled more than half the length of the field, taking a reverse shot once in the attacking circle. Forwards Peyton Wierl ’26 and Chloe Cleaves ’26 added the Doors’ lead with impressive goals in second half assisted by Alessandra Picard ‘29 and Ilsa Borgen ’26, respectively. Deerfield’s defensive strength from Lalwani Surpitski ’26, Eloise Hochberg ’27, Erin Dunne ’28, and Reagan Deery ’28, along with seven impressive saves from goalie Izzy Kirby ’26, kept the Pelicans scoreless throughout the game. The Doors face Cushing Academy at home on Wednesday, October 8 at 3:15pm.
