Deerfield JV Field Hockey pulled out a big win today on this beautiful, blustery day at Northfield Mount Hermon. While our defensive players have put forward impressive efforts in the past few games, today it was our offense that really sang. Scoring six goals across the game, our forwards made well-timed passes and smart decisions. They kept relentless pressure on the NMH defense, working hard to tip the ball in from the edges of the goal, a skill we practice regularly. Alana McDonough carried a hot streak through the entirety of the game, scoring both our first and last goal. Ellora Devitre had a hot steak of her own this afternoon, assisting on three goals and scoring one herself. Milana Shuman and Campbell Ardrey also had competitive games, each earning both a goal and an assist. Finally, Liv Blecher earned her second goal of the season, sweeping a ball past the NMH goalie in the second quarter. NMH scored a well-executed goal in the fourth quarter, but Deerfield quickly adjusted, answering the goal a mere minute later. Virginia Sullivan and Piper Wilson shone in the midfield, both skillfully delivering the ball to the forwards and slowing a hungry NMH offense in transition. Shelby Acquavella, Ella Waag, and Neva Navab all had noteworthy hustle on the field today, working hard to support their team by being in the right place at the right time. We’re walking away feeling proud of our persistence and team coordination. We’ll see you all at St. Paul’s this Saturday, 10/4, at 3pm.
