We took on our neighbors up the hill at Eaglebrook on a chilly Friday night under the lights, winning 6-1. Both schools sent a flock of fans who cheered loudly and created a really fun atmosphere, just what we’d hoped for. Eaglebrook had a few speedy and decisive players who challenged us in the midfield throughout the game, though we were able to penetrate their back line and capitalize. We opened the scoring on an attacking ball from the midfield, which deflected off Brian Gianvecchio’s (26) head to the feet of Henry Markcrow (28) who blasted a lefty home. Soon after, Tai Feng (26) finished a through-ball with a superb left footer, making it 2-0. Then Tai Feng (26) earned a penalty shot from a foul in the box, which he tidily placed lower left. And just before halftime, Blaze Etienne-Cummings took a long throw in from center back Michael Hioe (27) off the turf and headed it in. 4-0 at the half. Early in the second half, Victor Kibuuka (26) volleyed in another long throw-in from Michael Hioe (27). Eaglebrook kept the pressure on and moved the ball nicely through the midfield, though we were able to disposses and counter, earning our 6th goal when Brian Gianvecchio (26) slotted home a right footer. Eaglebrook scored on a nice timing play reaching the ball just before keeper Jerry Du (27) could clear the ball. The final score was 6-1. The energy at the field was really positive, an experience under the lights we rarely get to enjoy. Thanks to Eaglebrook for hosting a fun event!
