Deerfield Girls Hockey took on Taft at home on Saturday afternoon, and came away with a 5-0 win. We dominated play and possession from the get go, demonstrating real grit in our third game of the week. Ava Giroux ’26 opened the scoring early in the first, finishing off excellent puck movement from Sophie Frost ’26 and Gia Thompson ’26. Then Allie Corrieri ’25 picked the top corner from the point on the power play (assist to Keira Austen ’26) before Olivia Austen ’27 pounced on a rebound from a Gill Herr ’27 shot, also on the power play (Thompson earned the second assist). We added two more goals in the third period, the first from Thompson on a great individual effort, and the second from Frost on a strong drive to goal after a good pass from Olivia Austen. Izzy Kirby ’26 earned another shut out in goal, and Ava Carvel was awarded the hard hat for her memorable first shift and positive attitude in her first game back from injury.
