Boys JV Hockey write-up for Williston 1/22/25
The boys JV hocket team were once again on the road, this time heading to nearby Easthampton Ma. to take on the Wildcats of Williston. The game was very competitive and after one period of play the score was deadlocked at 0-0. Both teams had good scoring opportunities, but the Williston goalie and our own Drake Esquer rose to the challenge and kept their teams in the game. Deerfield would strike first in the second period with Avery Powers scoring his first of two on the afternoon with a nice assist from linemate Jack Vergamini. Williston got the equalizer later in the period on a strong move to the net by their forward and tucking home a nice shot to the upper corner of the net. Deerfield stepped up their game and shortly after got the game-winning goal when Jack Vergamini punched home a loose puck around the Williston net. Assists for this goal came from linemates Powers and Altemeyer. This line would account for all four goals on the afternoon with Avery and jack each getting two goals.
The third period was won by Big Green 2-0 as we controlled the puck down low and created many good scoring chances. All four lines played good two-way hockey while our defensive corps led the way moving the puck out of our defensive zone consistently throughout the game. Game puck today goes to Avery for his two goal and two assist output on the day.
Next up for the JV team is their first home game of the season against rival Choate this Saturday.
