Boys JV hockey shuts out Andover 6-0
On Saturday January 18th the boys J.V. hockey team took to the road yet again to face another strong opponent in Phillips Andover. Today, the team was short-handed with several players missing for family or other off-campus obligations. We skated three lines and 5 defensemen and in the end produced one of the team’s best efforts to date.
Today we got the offensive punch we’ve been looking for in practice these past couple of weeks. All three lines were contributors in the scoring. Leading the way was the line of Rorick, Brozek, and Donnellan. This unit worked well together and created the scoring chances they needed. Cole got two goals and Cooper scored another.
We got great two-way play from the Vergamini, Powers, and Altemeyer and they too got on the scoresheet when Avery Powers collected his first goal since returning from the Holiday break. The line of Coleman, Stenzler, Dance scored the lone goal of the third period with Keller Coleman slamming home a loose puck in front of the Andover net. This line continues to improve their level of play each week.
Defensively we skated with 5 defensemen (Cooper Lawson, Griffin Cepiel, Johan Wilkerson, Duncan McLeod, and Brooks Simonds. Together with netminder Drake Esquer, the team was able to keep Andover off the score sheet and provide the support we needed for a solid team win.
This week we see Williston on Wednesday and then finally have our first home contest of the season on Saturday against Choate. Exciting week for the team!
