A challenging season came to a disappointing end with Deerfield’s first loss to Choate’s Thirds team in at least a decade. Despite the bizarrely high number of injuries this team faced, they played hard from August into November. That was never more obvious today when they only dialed up the intensity when they fell behind 1-0 and then 2-0 and finally 3-2. Promoted Quad Squad veteran Cole Higgins ’26, stepping in as our striker in the final week, scored both of DA’s goals, the second assisted by an astonishingly deep throw-in from fullback P.J. Block ’25. Jerry Du ’27 made several highlight-reel catches and kept us in this game as he has in the last 13 contests. The hustle shown by rookies PJ Pirsch ’28 and Kenan Ozada ‘28—today and all season—augurs well for their future in the program, and midfielder Howard Jin ’27 and centerback Rowan Dias ’27 put together their best games of the season. Coaches Dollhopf and Hamilton thank the squad for a great fall and look forward to rooting them on at Varsity and JV tryouts next year.
