Squash, Girls: Thirds defeats Choate

Event Details

Deerfield concluded the home portion of its schedule with a commanding win against rival Choate on Saturday afternoon. In its first chance to play its full roster against another school’s, Deerfield’s talent and depth were on full display as it won six of the seven official matches and six of the seven exhibition matches, too. Grace Honos, as the #7 seed, faced the only Choate player who recorded a win against Andover earlier in the afternoon, yet had little trouble winning the match, thanks to her knee-buckling lob serve and expert placement. Four of her teammates racked up victories in straight sets. In the exhibition round, Grace Stone showed an often devastating serve, while Angel Zhou had the ability to hit a winning drop shot from anywhere on the court. The team looks forward to its final week of practices and its last contest of the year on Saturday, when it heads to Easthampton for a rematch against the Williston Northampton School.
