Basketball, Boys: Thirds loses to Loomis

Event Details

On Wednesday, February 26th, the boys 3rds basketball team traveled south to Windsor, CT to face Loomis Chafee in the final game of the season. While Deerfield avoided the disastrous 1st half shooting that plagued them in the last two games, they still fell 55-42, which was exactly the same margin that the first game against Loomis was. With the loss, the team finishes with a 2-12 record on the season. Loomis got off to a hot start shooting, finishing at over 50% for the 1st half, while their press forced Deerfield into numerous early turnovers. Deerfield shot well in the 1st half, including 3-3 from the free throw line, but still gave up 36 points to trail by 13 at the half. In the 2nd half, Loomis’ shooting cooled off and Deerfield were able to get the lead into single digits several times, but were unable to get close enough to take the lead. Tysean Price ’22 led the team once again with 12 points, while George Fauver ’22 added 11 points and several impressive rebounds and blocks. Tysean also accepted the team MVP award at school meeting earlier in the day.
