Basketball, Boys: Junior Varsity loses to NMH

Event Details

Although the end result was not what we wanted, a 54-58 loss, the game was maybe the best of the season as far as overall effort against a quality opponent. The game was back and forth with a real contrast in styles. We went into the halftime break all tied up at 31. In the opening minutes of the second half, we lost defensive assignment on one of their shooters who hit two open three pointers to spread the lead to 8. That coupled with giving up several offensive boards kept us from closing the gap until the final minute and we just ran out of time. The opportunity for a quality win was there but we just didn’t take it. Credit to NMH for a well played game on both ends of the floor. Nikhil Barnes led our scoring with 14 and was active defensively and on the boards. Will Stulz had arguably his best game of the season, hitting 13 points and playing good minutes on both ends of the floor. Ford Holmen and Gabe Zaccheo both came off the bench and provided strong minutes in the first half especially. Penultimate weekend action kicks off tonight against St. Paul’s and then it’s off to Worcester tomorrow for an away rematch.
