Hockey, Boys: Junior Varsity loses to Salisbury

Event Details

The boys JV hockey team hosted perennially strong Salisbury here at the Class of 1993 rink on Saturday. Making this contest all the more challenging would be the suspension of 5 players from the contest due to infractions occurred in a game against Winchendon back in December.

Alex Leong led his team in net today and his play was outstanding. The team lost a tight contest by a score of 5-6, but without the play from Alex the score could have been much different!

Another player who logged incredible playing minutes was defenseman Alex Strait. His play, along with partner Darien Chiang, was consistently strong all game and gave the team much needed stability on the blue line.

Felix Rockefeller, Mike Scharfenberger, and Bodied Fish all scored their first goals of the season and Aidan Philie notched two for himself.

This was a great team effort against a very-skilled and deep Salisbury team. Hats off to every player wearing a Deerfield jersey for the game. The team showed great discipline, worked hard, and gave themselves opportunities to win the game.

Congratulations to the team today also for only receiving two penalties called on them the entire contest. The team has learned a good amount today on what it will take from everyone to move the dial on becoming a better team. We look forward to this week continuing our improved play and focus. On Wednesday we host NMH and on Saturday we host Andover. Two good teams that will challenge our resolve to keep getting better every time out!
